National Marine Sanctuary

P.O. Box 500368
Florida is the only state in the continental United States to have extensive reef building coral formations near its coasts. Every year, over six million visitors come to the Florida Keys to enjoy the incredible coral reef system and the unique waters in which it lives. The special lure of the Florida Keys supports a two billion dollar economy. This economy depends on a healthy marine environment.

The Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, administered by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in partnership with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), encompasses 2800 square nautical miles of the waters surrounding the Florida Keys with the goal of balancing the long-term health of the ecosystem with the economy it supports.
